On the difference between left-wing populism and right-wing populism

Advocates of left-wing populist policies are more committed to pursuing social equality and political participation, opposing elites and powerful classes internally, emphasizing patriotism externally and holding high the banner of opposing imperialism, colonialism and globalization;

Right-wing populism mainly opposes immigration, emphasizes local identity and racial identity, and has strong xenophobic thoughts. In recent years, European right-wing populism has also been tainted with extreme nationalism and pursued racism and xenophobia that hate foreigners.
