A synopsis of my miserable life.

1939, the Nazis put hundreds of Jewish fugitives from all walks of life on a luxury passenger ship and took refuge in Havana, Cuba. However, when the ship arrived in Havana port, the Cuban government refused the entry of Jewish passengers on board according to its strict immigration policy. In fact, the Nazis expected this result long ago, which is exactly what they want to see. When the exiles left Havana, the German government could prove that Jews were the most unpopular race in the world, thus finding a reasonable excuse for Hitler's ethnic cleansing policy.

It turns out that this young man is a Nazi. He has just accepted a secret mission to go to Cuba with the ship and receive important information from the German spy Hoffman.

The ship slowly left the dock. The passengers looked at the drifting motherland with mixed feelings. Have the nightmare years passed? What kind of fate awaits people? Manas, a Jewish teacher who has just been released from a concentration camp, can hardly believe that he really left hellish Germany. Mr. Rosen, a long-suffering Jewish lawyer, angrily cursed the Nazis as murderers! Hangman! Professor Christler, a famous Jewish doctor in Germany, is relatively calm. He firmly believes that this is temporary. He said to his wife Dennis, "We will come back."

The long voyage began. There is food on the table in the restaurant, the band is playing music, some people are dancing rumba ... people want to get rid of their fear of the past and worry about the future for a while. Young people are obsessed with short-lived love. However, when they watched the movie, they saw Hitler's ferocious face and heard the howl of the Nazi leader, and people left their seats like avoiding the plague. Professor kreisler angrily came to Captain Schroeder's cabin to protest against the addition of a news film about Hitler. Although Nazi Sindik did it, the captain accepted the protest and promised that it would not happen again. He expressed respect for Jewish religious habits and ordered the ship's recreation room to be changed into a place for Jewish worship.

Rosen's wife Lily and daughter Anna have been worried about Rosen's health. Because of the long-term persecution of the Nazis, Rosen's spirit was deeply traumatized. Now, although he left Germany, he is still in morbid isolation and inner tension. The shadow of Nazi Germany weighed heavily on Rosen's mind like lead.

At the same time, Cuba, the destination of the St. Louis, is busy welcoming the arrival of the passenger ship. Because of the power struggle, there are two factions within the Cuban government. The faction headed by President Bruce refused to let the passengers on board land, while immigration director Benitez took the opportunity to extort money. For the above reasons, Trooper, the director of the "European Jewish Office" who runs for the fate of this Jewish ship, has always been pointless and futile.

The St. Louis docked, and no passengers were allowed to land because of the Cuban official ban. Rosen had a complete nervous breakdown. He cut himself hysterically with a knife and then jumped into the sea. Fortunately, he was rescued by a Cuban patrol boat. German spy Hoffman boarded the ship and told the captain the cold truth: in Nazi Germany's view, these 900 Jews were just "scum" and tools for political propaganda. It has nothing to do with Germany that they can't go ashore. The German government has no intention of letting these people go ashore.

After several unsuccessful negotiations, Captain Schroeder had to command the ship to leave Cuba and look for ports in other countries to allow passengers to land. Trooper also traveled to European capitals to lobby for the survival of more than 900 Jews. However, the reaction of all countries is very cold. In this way, the St. Louis can only return to Hamburg, and there is no other choice. This will mean that passengers are waiting for concentration camps and death. In order to avoid entering the concentration camp, Rosen's daughter, beautiful and pure Jewish girl Anna and her boyfriend Gunter ended their young lives with a glass of poisoned wine. Manas, Pozner and some passengers who had tasted the concentration camp tried to seize the ship to stop the voyage back to Hamburg. Captain Schroeder, an honest man who sympathized with the fate of Jews, decided to create a collision accident near the British coast and let a ship of Jews be rescued by Britain as victims at sea. At this time, Trooper sent a telegram: the negotiations were successful and Britain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands agreed to accept these passengers.

The whole ship was relieved, but were these Jews out of their misery? Two months later, World War II broke out and the German Nazis trampled on Europe. Pozner in the Netherlands and manas in France were arrested by German secret police and both died in Auschwitz concentration camp. Professor kreisler and his wife were also put in concentration camps, but their lives were saved by luck. Mrs Rosen finally survived and was reunited with her husband in England. But there are only a few survivors. More than 600 of these 900 passengers tragically ended their lives in the concentration camp.
