Nationalism in Assam

Assam is located at the junction of China, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Assam is the main ethnic group. Assam United Liberation Front, Puerto Rican National Democratic Front and Katapur Liberation Organization are the three major anti-government armed groups in Assam. The United Liberation Front of Assam is the largest of them. Founded in 1979, it is famous for its violent activities such as assassination, kidnapping and attacking military police. Its purpose is to liberate the country from "Indian rule". In the 1990s, the Indian government used eight army brigades and four army divisions to carry out large-scale encirclement and suppression. However, the remnants of the organization's warring factions have links with terrorists in neighboring countries and continue to carry out violent activities. Moreover, they also have nine camps in Bhutan, India's neighboring country. Two organizations, the Democratic Front of Puerto Rico and the Liberation Organization of Cartagena, also have eight and three training camps. Assam independence movement has been very active in India in recent years.

The residents of Assam in the east belong to Mongols, and they look like China people. They claimed that Assam never belonged to India, but India occupied this place after Britain, the occupying Power, withdrew. The main separatist group, the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), has been attacking Indian-speaking immigrants from northern India.
