Marriage immigrant (F6 visa): a person who marries a Korean and wishes to stay in Korea for a long time for the purpose of cohabitation with a Korean spouse after completing the marriage registration in Korea. According to the Korean Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Justice recently improved the relevant system of international marriage. After the adjustment, foreigners married to Korean nationals can obtain a Korean residence visa (F-2) as long as they raise Korean children, even if the marriage relationship ends due to divorce.

According to the Ministry of Justice, according to the current regulations, spouses married to Korean nationals can obtain the residence qualification of marriage immigrants (F-6-2), but if the marriage relationship breaks down due to divorce and other reasons, even if they have children with their spouses, they can only stay in Korea with the qualification of visiting cohabitation (F- 1). Visiting cohabitation visas restrict foreigners' employment in Korea.

In view of this situation, the Ministry of Justice decided to adjust the existing regulations. Marriage immigrants who directly raise minor children after the marriage relationship ends will obtain residence qualification, and their employment, job changes and residence activities are not restricted, so as to ensure that foreign immigrants can live in Korea.

However, when issuing residence visas, the Ministry of Justice will examine whether the children are actually raised, the domestic living foundation of the marriage immigrants, the intimacy with the children, and the basic literacy.

The Ministry of Justice said that it will continue to improve the relevant system to ensure that children from single-parent multicultural families can grow up healthily and happily.
