Announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Administration of Immigration of People's Republic of China (PRC) on temporarily stopping the entry of foreigners with valid Chinese visas and residence permits

In view of the rapid spread of COVID-19 epidemic around the world, China decided to temporarily stop foreigners from entering China with valid visas and residence permits from 0: 00 on March 28th, 2020. Prevent foreigners from entering the country with APEC business travel cards. Port visa suspension, 24/72/ 144 hour visa-free transit, Hainan visa-free entry, Shanghai cruise ship visa-free entry, foreigners from Hong Kong and Macao visa-free entry to Guangdong 144 hour visa-free entry for ASEAN tour groups to Guangxi. Entry with diplomatic, official, courtesy and C visa will not be affected. Foreigners who come to China to engage in necessary economic, trade, scientific and technological activities and urgent humanitarian needs may apply for visas from China embassies and consulates abroad. Foreigners holding visas issued after the announcement will not be affected.

This is a temporary measure that China has to take to cope with the current epidemic and refer to the practices of many countries.
