Zhang Jiude was the division commander of the Third Artillery Corps from 1954 to 1969. It can be said that this unit has deeply laid his brand.

Mr. Zhang Jiude is from Qinxian County, Shanxi Province. 1936 joined the second column of the west alliance, 1937 joined the China * * * production party. He made many exploits in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, from a soldier to a teacher. In the War of Liberation, he served as the deputy head and head of the Jinsui Military Region, and he was even more brave and good at fighting. He was awarded the honorary title of combat hero by the Jin-Sui Military Region.

After the founding of New China, Zhang Jiude was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the 32nd Artillery Division. 195/kloc-0 went to the DPRK to participate in the war in April, and served as the chief of staff of the Eighth Division of the Artillery Corps of the Volunteers. He led his troops to participate in the fifth campaign and was affiliated to the Ninth Corps, with brilliant results.

At that time, the Third Artillery Division had moved from the Korean battlefield to the Fujian front. 1in the mid-1950 s, the front line in Fujian was covered with dark clouds. Under the protection of the United States, Chiang Kai-shek reorganized the Kuomintang army that had been hiding in Taiwan Province Province, put on all the advanced weapons of the United States, and began to stir up and counterattack the mainland. Attacks on the coastal islands such as Rinan Island and Dongshan Island have continued, causing serious losses to our coastal soldiers and civilians.

The Third Artillery Division was the only artillery division in the former Fuzhou Military Region, which was responsible for anti-landing, anti-harassment, fire attack on enemy-occupied islands, escort, fishing protection and other tasks.

Artillery is a high-tech unit, but at that time, the officers and men of our army, especially the grass-roots officers and men, generally had a low level of education and it was difficult to master technology. Mr. Zhang Jiude loves talents like life. As long as he is a talented person, he selects and uses talents in an eclectic way, especially retaining a group of cadres who defected from the Kuomintang troops. At that time, the Third Artillery Corps became the unit with the largest number of liberators in Fuzhou Military Region. Most of the battalion companies grew up, and many of them graduated from Tangshan Artillery School. The transport section chief and the section chief of each regiment are mostly enemy fast columns. Therefore, the military technology of the Third Artillery Division was the best at that time, and other artillery units were generally inferior to the Third Artillery Division in military competitions and assessments organized by the headquarters. Zhang Jiude's stories were all heard later. When I was a soldier, Zhang Jiude was already the deputy commander of Fujian Military Region, and Bo Hengxiang was our deputy commander at that time.

The name Bo Hengxiang sounds like a woman, but our assistant teacher Bo is a standard black-faced Shandong man. The officers and men in our division call him "thin old man". The old man is from Haiyang, Shandong Province, with a Jiaodong accent. During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he joined the Eighth Route Army with his uncle. At that time, he was only 15 years old, not as tall as a gun. His uncle was the monitor of the cookhouse squad, and later became the company commander. His uncle was also the monitor of the cookhouse squad.

After joining the army, Bo Hengxiang fought bravely and tried to kill the enemy. Before he was twenty, he became a company commander. After battles in Jinan, Huaihai, Du Jiang, Songhu and Fujian, the troops fought all the way from Shandong to Xiamen, Fujian. He has a tenacious fighting style and is not afraid of sacrifice. He has been through many battles and has been wounded many times. We saw the bullet marks on him with our own eyes. When Xiamen was liberated, he was already one of the best company commanders in the 3 1 Army. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, I rose all the way. When he arrived at the deputy head of the infantry regiment, he went to the artillery school to study. After I came back, I was appointed as the head of the artillery regiment.

When we were soldiers, there were five or six deputy teachers in the division, but many of our officers and men didn't even know who the teacher was, except that there was a "thin old man" in the division. After dinner, the road in the division compound is often crowded with people, officers and men walking in the yard after dinner, family members coming home from work, and students rushing home for dinner.

The "thin old man" often stands at the intersection with a military cap in his hand and his hands behind his back. Ordinary officers and men saw the "thin old man" standing there from a distance, so they dodged other paths, and their families and children hurried past him. Individual officers and men who can't leave can only walk up to him, salute him and leave. Often some cadres will be stopped by him and shouted with a strong Jiaodong accent: "Which unit? If you are confused, I will cut your chicken (dismiss you). " So everyone will be afraid of him.

During the period of 1979, the situation on the Sino-Vietnamese border suddenly became tense, and the Vietnamese authorities constantly provoked it, which reached the point of unbearable. The Central Military Commission decided to defend itself against Vietnam. In order to strengthen the firepower of participating troops, the CMC decided to transfer a 130 artillery regiment from the Third Artillery Division of Fuzhou Military Region to strengthen the operations of Guangzhou Military Region. Deputy Commander Bo, 5 1 year old, volunteered to lead the troops out.

Arriving at the front line in Guangxi, the artillery regiment 12, under the leadership of the deputy division chief Chang Bo, successively belonged to the 4 1 Army and the 55th Army to fight back in self-defense, moved to Gaoping and attacked lang son, giving full play to the role of long-range heavy artillery, and repeatedly made meritorious deeds in suppressing enemy long-range artillery, destroying the strong positions of the Vietnamese army and supporting the offensive operations of infantry tanks, which was highly praised by the subordinate units.

General Lei, who later served as the political commissar of the Nanjing Military Region, was then the head of the Organization Department of the Political Department of the Guangzhou Military Region. He told us a story: during the battle, he once went to the 3 rd artillery division to learn about the situation. At that time, he had no rank and didn't know Deputy Commander Bo, so he had to shout. A veteran stands out from the crowd, that is, the "thin old man". He was very moved to see Deputy Commander Bo squatting on the ground with two small enamel bowls and eating the same food as the officers and men. Later, he told us that from this point, we can see that the Third Artillery Division is a force capable of fighting.

March 1979, 1, the battle of Langzi kicked off. The 55th Army concentrated more than 300 guns on lang son, dropped tens of thousands of shells in 30 minutes, and lang son City was blown into a sea of fire. Dozens of large-caliber guns of Bao 12 Regiment have played an important role and provided powerful fire support for the attack of infantry tanks. When the fire preparation was over and the artillery fire was extended, Deputy Commander Bo advanced to the command post, braved the bullets and entered the urban area of lang son with the assault infantry tanks, and directly directed and called the fire to attack the remaining shelters.

After the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, Deputy Commander Bo led his troops back to Fujian and moved the troops back to the camp. After returning, the Party Committee of Fuzhou Military Region reported to the Central Military Commission and appointed Bo Hengxiang as the commander of the Third Artillery Division.

From 65438 to 0979, I worked as a platoon leader and later as a staff officer and company commander. It can be said that I spent most of my time in the Third Artillery Division, and my teacher was Bo Hengxiang.

Mr. Bo has a very good memory. Five regiments (later six regiments) of the whole division are distributed on the line from Xianyou to Nan 'an and then to Xiamen for hundreds of kilometers. There are not many teachers at ordinary times, but Mr. Bo basically knows cadres above the division level. It is really not easy to call out names as soon as they meet.

Mr. Bo attaches great importance to the training of troops, but it is impossible for him to fail to keep up with the training level. He is so clever that he can't cheat him if he wants to. One of my comrades worked as a staff officer for him. He said it was tiring to accompany the teacher in the army. He sat in the front and the teacher sat in the back seat. He took off his shoes and dug his feet all the way and asked him training questions. If he answers incorrectly, he will be criticized. At the same time, I have to look at the map while walking. The teacher will suddenly ask him where this place is. If you answer wrong, you will be punished again. Mr. Bo usually knows what he asks you, but he is actually testing you. But every time I walk with him, I gain a lot. Many staff officers are trained in this way.

Mr. Bo loves talents very much, and he has the demeanor of Zhang Jiude. He uses cadres in an eclectic way, appointing people on their merits. He is strict in leading troops and fierce in swearing, but he is extremely cautious in treating cadres, and the officers and men of the whole division are both afraid and respectful to him. Under his leadership, the Third Artillery Corps has maintained its fine military skills, fine work style and fine tradition of harmonious relations between officers and men, and even further developed it.

When Mr. Bo was in office, he knew me, but our grades were too different and we didn't communicate much. We talked more after he retired. After retirement, Mr. Bo lived in the home of a retired cadre in Xiamen. After leaving the army, he also cared about army building and officers and men.

When I was a battalion commander, our battalion was the 3rd Battalion of 12 Artillery Corps, and 1979 fought against Vietnam. In my office, I hung the banner of "self-defense and frontier defense" and "shelling lang son, the enemy lost his heart" awarded by the Guangzhou Military Region, but I didn't take part in the lang son war, and there were no veterans in our battalion.

We asked Mr. Bo Xilai to tell us about the history of this battle. Every time, Mr. Bo enthusiastically came to tell us about history and tradition, and taught us the experience of leading troops and fighting wars, which was deeply welcomed and loved by officers and men.

Once after class, Mr. Bo chatted with several battalion leaders. He asked about my wife's job. I once went to Xiamen during the Spring Festival and met his son on the way in the morning. I said I haven't seen the old chief for a long time. What have you been up to recently? He told me that during this period, Mr. Bo went to the railway station every day to buy train tickets for everyone. Now, because the tickets are very tight, in order to ensure that tickets can be bought, the old chief will queue up at the railway station at four in the morning.

I hurried to the railway station and there was a long queue at the ticket office. Bo Xilai was waiting in line with his coat in one hand and Mazar in the other. I used to call him, and he had a piece of paper in his hand, which recorded the troops, names, trains, addresses and time of more than a dozen comrades in arms in detail. After returning to the army, I seriously called a meeting of all company cadres, and I was not allowed to ask the old chief to help me buy tickets! However, there are always soldiers who are not sensible who will bother the old chief, and the old chief will still be willing to serve the soldiers. ...
