Ancient Town Culture of Yun 'an Ancient Town
Yun 'an is a typical immigrant town. People from all corners of the country gathered here, and different regional cultures blended with each other, leaving a deep impression on the ancient town. Folks from the same area, whose houses live next to each other, named streets and lanes after their ancestral homes, pinning their homesickness. For example, Huangzhou Street, Jiangxi Street, and Shaanxi Street, where people in Huangzhou, Hubei live ... In order to seek protection, they established a guild hall with homesickness as the link, joined hands with the outside world, and relied on the strength of the group to safeguard their respective interests, forming a unique social relationship in the ancient town. The Emperor Palace is the Huangzhou People's Guild Hall, the Yandi Palace is the Hunan People's Guild Hall, the Wanshou Palace is the Jiangxi People's Guild Hall, and the building is the Shaanxi People's Guild Hall ... In its heyday, more than 20 provinces established guilds, streets and temples here. Every street in the ancient town has an extraordinary origin, and every guild hall is a history of Yunnan.
Complementing the guild hall are the luxuriously decorated mansions such as Chen Family Courtyard, Lin Family Courtyard, Wang Family Courtyard, Shi Family Courtyard, Guo Family Courtyard, Zhang Family Courtyard and "Nine Palaces and Eighteen Temples", which constitute the "Grand View Garden" of the architectural art of the ancient town. Especially the buildings in Shaanxi are unique. Its shape is a four-corner, five-story bunker-style building, the exterior is made of azurite bricks, and the interior is made of wood to form a cloister, and climbing stairs is like climbing stairs. Standing on the tower overlooking, the ancient town is picturesque and the mountains are like waves. Shaanxi people gather here to discuss, worship their ancestors and pray for God, and guard against theft and bandits. A bronze bell was cast in the light years of Qing Dynasty, which was also used to tell the time. Since then, Loulou ancient clock has become the soul and command center of the ancient town, and the scheduling of saltworks working hours and the daily life of residents have been entrusted to Zhong. It's been more than a hundred years since I heard the sound, listened to the sound, rested, rang the bell and sealed the money. Now, Shaanxi Building has completely moved to the Three Gorges Museum Park in Yunyang New County, but the bell that woke up Yunan people still seems to reverberate over Yunyang.
Yunnan people advocate knowledge and attach importance to education, and many academies and schools are the concentrated expression of this humanistic spirit. In the early years of Xianfeng, Ambassador Chen Ting 'an converted the old Salt Pavilion into an academy. Five streams flow into Tangxi, hence the name "Wuxi Academy", which is the predecessor of Yun 'an No.2 Primary School. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Guo Wenzhen, a famous scholar, returned from studying in Japan and founded the "Reformists" in Yun 'an. 1943, Tang xingfu, Wang Guobin and others changed Wenchang palace into a private middle school, which was fully supported by Mr. Chu Fucheng, a veteran of the Kuomintang and a senator from Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Therefore, they commemorate it in the name of "Fucheng" with the intention of "enriching the country and prospering the country". After liberation, Fucheng Middle School was renamed Yun 'an Middle School. Today's Yun 'an Middle School has also moved into the new county, becoming the most beautiful school in the new town.

The Three Gorges area is a mountainous area, which has not been rich in products since ancient times. The only economic source that can be relied on is salt and tea. From the Han Dynasty portrait bricks unearthed in Yunyang, we can see the extensive cultivation of slash-and-burn farmers in eastern Sichuan at that time. On the Han bricks, there are also lively scenes of drilling wells to burn brine and make salt. As early as 206 BC, Yun 'an dug the first salt well and named it "White Rabbit Well". Everyone in Yun 'an Town knows that Yunyang was not called Yunyang at that time more than 2,000 years ago. Fan Kuai, a general led by Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang, recruited troops here. In Yun 'an, a white rabbit jumped out of the roadside, and Fan Kuai shot it with a bow. The white rabbit escaped injured.
Fan Kuai followed him until the white rabbit got better. The white rabbit disappeared into the grass. Fan Kuai pulled up weeds and found a pool of brine. Later, Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang ordered local celebrity Fu Jia to dig a well here. This is today's White Rabbit Well.

The investment in salt industry is quite large, but the profit is extremely high. Because since ancient times, salt has been strictly controlled by the government and monopolized by the government for many years. Because there is no competition, it can make a quick profit. The huge profits from selling salt attracted many rich people to invest in Yantian. After the development of industry and commerce, the local people got rid of the shackles of backward farming and lived in eastern Sichuan. Fan Chengda, a famous landscape and pastoral poet in the Song Dynasty, once wrote a poem: "Yun 'an wine is rich in joy and rice is cheap, and every family is intoxicated. "Qing kanggan period, after a hundred years of peaceful days, the population of the provinces increased, and there were many more businessmen coming and going than before. People from Jiangxi, Hubei, Shaanxi, Hunan and other provinces have entered Sichuan to open salt. There are more than 300 firms in Yun 'an, which has become a major industrial and commercial center in eastern Sichuan with rich wealth and is known as the "silver nest farm". Women in nearby towns and villages are proud to be married to this "silver nest field".
Bell ringer in arched bell tower
During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the population of Yun 'an Town increased greatly due to the large population in the occupied areas in the north. Later preserved buildings such as Old Street, Arrow Tower and Work-study School were all built during this period, except in Qing Dynasty. Shaanxi Arrow Tower is the center and the tallest building in the town. On the top floor of the Arrow Tower, there is a bronze bell cast by light in Qing Dynasty. Because it is said that it has been beaten by wind and rain and frequently used, this bronze bell is rusty and knocked out a gap the size of a bowl. The old people who moved to Yunyang New Town have been ringing bells in this town for generations. According to her, for her, this ancestral bell ringing work is the seventh generation. She still remembers that the bell ringer slept on the third floor of the Arrow Tower, and there was a bell on the bed, which was the only bell in town. Every hour, the bell ringer climbs to the top floor and rings the bronze bell to tell the time for the whole town. People in the town rest in this 24: 00 bell every day.
