Through his grandmother Anne carter harrison, Harrison inherited the lineage of King Henry III (1207- 1272). In his paternal family, five generations before him were called Benjamin Harrison. Benjamin Harrison I, the father of the president's great-grandfather, immigrated from England to the United States (the exact location is unknown). 1632 settled in Virginia, served as secretary of the state committee, and became one of the largest landlords in Virginia. Benjamin Harrison II is the great-grandfather of the President, and occasionally served in the colonial Virginia legislature during 1680- 1698; 1698- 17 12 served on the Virginia Committee. Benjamin Harrison III was the great-grandfather of the President and 1702- 1705 was the Attorney General of Virginia. 1705, as the speaker of the Virginia legislature; 1705- 17 10 is the treasurer of the colony. The president's grandfather, Benjamin Harrison IV, served as a militia colonel and county sheriff. He served in the Virginia legislature intermittently at 1734- 1744. He was struck by lightning and died.
