Six exams you must know to study abroad
Studying abroad, formerly known as studying abroad, generally refers to a person going to a country outside his own country to receive various kinds of education, which can be short-term or long-term (from a few weeks to several years). The following are six kinds of exams I have carefully arranged for studying abroad. Welcome to share.
1. IELTS:
IELTS is an English proficiency test for studying or immigrating from Commonwealth countries. The content of the exam is divided into immigration (G) and academic (A), including listening, speaking, reading and writing. There are only two differences between Class G and Class A in reading and writing. Written test, out of 9 points. Examination time 165 minutes, and the examination is valid for two years. In 20 13, IELTS has been recognized by more than 8,000 institutions, covering educational institutions, employers, professional associations and government departments in 70 countries around the world. In 20 12, in the United States, * * * more than 3,000 institutions recognized IELTS scores, [3] including all famous Ivy League schools (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Pennsylvania, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth) and most American universities ranked in the top 100. By the end of 20 12, 65,438+10,000 students in Chinese mainland had applied for American universities with IELTS scores.
2. TOEFL:
TOEFL is an English proficiency test organized by educational testing service (ETS). Its full name is "English proficiency test for non-native English speakers" and its Chinese transliteration is "TOEFL". There are three kinds of TOEFL, namely: PBT—-paper-based paper test 677, CBT computer test 300, IBT—-online test 120, and the new TOEFL score is 120.
The TOEFL test is valid for two years. In addition to universities in most countries such as the United States and Canada, some countries and regions in Europe, Oceania (such as Australia and New Zealand) and Southeast Asia also recognize TOEFL scores. In recent years, domestic organizations of the United Nations in China, foreign companies and joint ventures have also adopted TOEFL test scores when hiring staff or when testing the English level of staff at the International Fund. 20 14 At the beginning of April, the British Home Office ended its cooperation with ETS, an American educational examination institution, and no longer recognized its TOEFL and TOEFL scores. Some China students who are going to study in the UK report that they have received a notice from the school asking for English test scores again. Attention, please.
3.GRE:
The full name of the postgraduate entrance examination is the Graduate RecordExamination, and the Chinese name is the American Postgraduate Entrance Examination, which is applicable to all majors except law and business and sponsored by educational testing service (ETS). GRE is an examination result required by all kinds of graduate schools in universities all over the world (except management schools and law schools), and it is also the most important criterion for professors to award scholarships to applicants. At present, Chinese mainland, Hongkong, Macau and South Korea implement separate examinations. It consists of computer test (analytical writing) and written test (Chinese and mathematics). In addition to the above-mentioned examination fields mainly in Chinese mainland, computer-based examinations (analytical writing, Chinese, mathematics) are currently implemented.
There are two kinds of GRE tests: one is a general test or a sexual orientation test; The second is professional testing or advanced testing. GRE also has a writing test, that is, the writing test (computer test), which is now a compulsory test. The GREGeneral test mainly examines candidates' basic English ability and the breadth and depth of English knowledge. Most China students take this exam. The written test, including oral test and quantitative test, is 800, out of * * * 1600, and the result is valid for 5 years. The GRE exam lasts for three hours and consists of four parts, all of which are multiple-choice questions, and the method of deducting points for wrong answers is not implemented. Two parts of the four-part exam content belong to vocabulary items (oral) and two parts belong to mathematics items (quantitative). GRE subjects include seven exams: mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, biochemistry, computer, psychology and English literature.
4.GMAT:
The abbreviation of graduate management entrance examination, the Chinese name is business administration graduate entrance examination. It is a standardized test and has been widely used as the entrance examination for MBA. It is the most reliable test item to test whether the candidates have the ability to successfully complete the MBA program, and it is specially designed to help business schools [Weibo] or MBA programs to evaluate whether the applicants are qualified for further business administration.
Because GMAC, the organizer of GMAT, and its members include many well-known business schools around the world, GMAT scores are widely recognized by major business schools around the world and are the most commonly required test scores for applicants applying for MBA in the world. The GMAT exam consists of three parts: analytical writing, mathematics and Chinese. The full score of analytical writing is 6, and the last two items are 800. Generally, the college entrance examination requires 550 to 600 points, and institutions with high admission standards are more likely to require more than 650 points. The latest GMAT test consists of seven parts, each of which takes 30 minutes, including reading comprehension, sentence correction, problem solving, data filling and critical reasoning. The distribution of problems in the other two parts is different. One of the seven questions is tentative and is not included in the GMAT score. But because you can't tell which part didn't score, all questions should be answered seriously.
GMAT's subjects include accounting, economics, management, comprehensive management, production management, administration, international trade, fixed asset insurance, finance, market, medical care, transportation, mathematical analysis, management information system and behavioral science. GMAT takes the form of computerized adaptive examination, with 2 16 examinations every year.
5.LSAT:
Abbreviation for Law School Entrance Examination. It is a law school entrance examination sponsored by the Pennsylvania Law School Admission Committee. As one of the reference conditions for applying for admission to American law schools, this examination will be used to predict the performance of the applicant's correct and reasonable reasoning and judgment ability and analytical and evaluation ability in law schools, and there is no restriction on his qualification for admission. Almost all law schools require applicants to take the LSAT exam. The LSAT test has five parts, including three aspects, each part lasts 35 minutes, plus 30 minutes of writing. Three aspects are reading comprehension, logical reasoning and analytical reasoning. The writing part lasts for 30 minutes, and the content is to choose one of the two viewpoints in a given topic and explain it. The writing part is for reference only and has nothing to do with the total score.
The full score of LSAT is 180, and the lowest score is 120. Its calculation method is determined according to the number of correct answers selected. Generally, a good school requires a score above 160. Test scores are usually sent by the organizer about five weeks after the test, and LSAT scores are valid for five years. The LSAT exam is held four times a year, in February, June, October and December. Chinese mainland has a fixed exam in Peking University in June and December. Some candidates from Chinese mainland will choose to take the LSAT in Hongkong in February and October. The registration fee for LSAT is $ 132 from June 2009, and an additional $64 will be charged for late registration.
6. Saturday:
The full name of the academic evaluation test is the academic evaluation test. Sponsored by the American College Board, SAT scores are an important reference for high school students from all over the world to apply for study and scholarships in famous American universities. SAT is equivalent to the American college entrance examination. At present, the form of SAT began in March 2005. The total score is 2400 points.
SAT is held on the first Saturday of March, May, June, October, November and December and the last Saturday of January every year. Among them, the exam in March every year is only held in the United States. There is no proving ground in Chinese mainland. Generally speaking, there are examination rooms in Hongkong, Singapore, Macau, Taiwan Province Province, Japan, South Korea and other places in Asia (except in March every year), and mainland candidates can choose to take the exam in these places. Cost: SAT 1 (that is, reasoning test) is 52.5 dollars, and international candidates are 94.5 dollars. The basic cost of SAT2 (that is, subject examination) is 54 dollars, with an increase of 65,438+03 dollars per subject, and the language subject with listening is 24 dollars, so listening is not taken, 80 dollars for two subjects and 93 dollars for three subjects.
Development: Remember to study abroad.
There are always reminders before going abroad, but it is the first time to study in seven family instructions.
1. study: learn something and serve the motherland. Great wisdom, introducing an independent discipline; Smarter people can learn a skill, even tea ceremony, flower pattern and kendo, and bring them back to the motherland to serve the country and make a living.
2. Part-time job: Those who don't work are not considered as studying abroad. Those who are free of charge, those with well-to-do families can fight, and those who are self-reliant can fight. Never despair. Leave room, enough is enough. Life comes first, work comes second.
3. Psychology: Make appropriate friends and help each other. Someone to talk to, but someone to rely on. Keep in touch with your family and report things to your parents online.
4. Foreign languages: Foreign languages are skills, not knowledge. Make more friends with foreigners and write down their pet phrases in your notebook. Recite more foreign poems and sing more foreign songs. Some doctors spend four years studying abroad in the laboratory every day, and their foreign languages are not as good as before going abroad.
5. Family: If you can go home, you must go home and have a look. Don't think about bringing any gifts. You are a gift from God in your parents' hearts.
6. Save money: Don't save money desperately. There is no need to calculate the exchange rate difference. Take one dollar and one pound as one yuan. Anyone who saves money in his mouth will eventually be rewarded in health.
7. Future: The future of the people of China lies in China. If you want to earn a little money, go abroad. If you want to earn a lot of money, go back to China. Looking back on the 30 years of studying abroad, we can see that many talented people have returned to China to start a great cause, and many people with bad karma have died alone overseas. Remember.
