Why is India so poor?

Productivity defect, the existing production level is low

Although India's Bollywood, Bangalore and the group of engineers with high IQ are really commendable, these cannot hide the extreme underdevelopment of India's economy. This can be seen from their current production level. For example, India does not have a decent high-speed rail so far, and even "hanging tickets" are not uncommon.

On the other hand, India lacks advanced production technology, which leads to low overall production efficiency. Handicraft workers are mostly engaged in some technologies that should have been eliminated by society, such as repairing watches and shoes. In a country where illiteracy accounts for more than half, there is almost no way to improve this situation.

Climatic characteristics

The whole of India is hot, and most of it belongs to tropical monsoon climate, while thar desert in western India belongs to tropical desert climate. There is an obvious monsoon in summer and no obvious monsoon in winter. In winter, due to the barrier of Himalayas, there is no cold current or cold high pressure going south to affect India.
