What are the procedures for Shanghai to go to Hong Kong to study in a university?

All non-local students in Hong Kong need to apply for a student visa.

For Chinese mainland citizens and Taiwan Province residents, the application procedures are different.

The Hong Kong Immigration Bureau only issues student visas to applicants who attend full-time university studies (no student visas for part-time jobs and part-time studies).

All applicants for student visas must have a guarantor in Hong Kong.

Steps required:

And there must be a guarantor in Hong Kong. Application materials for student visas should be submitted to the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office in Beijing.

If the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office approves this material, they will submit an application to the Hong Kong Immigration Bureau by way of official nomination.

The Hong Kong Immigration Bureau will contact the local guarantor.

If the application is approved, the China and Macau Affairs Office will be informed, and then the applicant will be contacted to issue a student visa and a tourist pass.
