Every application for immigration to the United States submitted to USCIS must be reviewed by the Department of Homeland Security.

Each application (also known as a "case") is assigned a number consisting of numbers and letters to identify each case. By knowing the case number of USCIS, we can know when and where the case was applied.

The first three digits of the USCIS number consist of letters, representing each USCIS branch. For example, if the application is assigned to a California service center, the USCIS case number begins with "WAC".
