Francis Hodgson Burnett (1849 ~ 1924), a world-renowned writer of children's literature in English, was born in Manchester, England, spent his childhood in England, and immigrated to Tennessee with his family in 1865. This book and The Little Princess published by 1905 have been adapted into plays. 1909, when she arranged her own garden in Long Island, new york, she had a sudden inspiration and conceived a secret garden. 1905, she officially became an American citizen. She was married twice, and Burnett was her first husband's surname. 1873, she married Dr. S.M.Burnett and gave birth to two sons.
