The origin and history of Pingdu

Pingdu, the Xia Dynasty was the land of Lai, the Shang Dynasty was the land of Lai, and the Western Zhou Dynasty was the Tangyi of Lai. In the Spring and Autumn Period, it was the Lai Kingdom at the beginning. In the fifth year of King Ling of Zhou (567 BC), Qi State destroyed Lai and it belonged to Qi State. During the Warring States Period, Jimo was the state of Qi.
During Tian Qi’s reign, Jimo City (today’s Dazhumao Village, Guxian Town) was the political center of the eastern part of Qi State. In the Qin Dynasty, counties were established, with the present-day Jiaodong Peninsula as Jiaodong County, and Jimo City as the county government. In the first month of the first year of Emperor Gaozu of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC), Xiang Yu of Chu divided the original Qi state into three, and made Tianshi the king of Jiaodong, with the capital at Jimo. In June, Jiaodong was restored and annexed to Qi.
In the fourth year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (203 B.C.), Han Xin destroyed Qi, and all Qi territory belonged to the Han Dynasty. Jiaodong was made a county, and Jimo was governed. Jimo, Yuzhi, Luxiang, Pingdu, and Xia were merged. Mi and other counties. The seat of Yuzhi County is in today's Pingdu City, the seat of Luxiang County is in Chengzi Village, today's Xinhe Town, and the seat of Pingdu County is in the north of today's Xinhe Town. In the 16th year of Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty (164 BC), Jiaodong County was designated as the Jiaodong Kingdom, with its capital at Jimo.
In the third year of the Yuan Dynasty (154 BC), Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty abolished the Jiaodong Kingdom and changed it into a county. In the second year of Zhongyuan (148 BC) of Emperor Jing, the Jiaodong Kingdom began to be officially rebuilt. The capital was still Jimo, and eight towns were occupied. In the 13th year of Emperor Guangwu's reign (37th year) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Jia was granted the title of Marquis of Jiaodong.
In the first year of the founding of Emperor Zhang (76 years), the original Jiaodong Marquis was abolished, and the new Jiaodong Marquis only occupied one county, Yuzhi. The name of Yuzhi was abolished, and it became the Jiaodong Marquis. Wei was the eastern part of Jiaodong, Jimo, Luxiang counties and Xiami County, and the western part of Changguang County (the ancient city is in today's Laixi City). The Jin Dynasty established Changguang County, which was governed by Buqi County (today's Jimo District).
From Liu Yu's reign of Jin (420) to the sixth year of Emperor Taishi of Song Ming Dynasty (470), it was Jiaodong, Jimo and Luxiang counties. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, in the fourth year of Emperor Xianwen's reign (470), the western boundary of the original Changguang County was expanded to Jiaoshui, and the county was moved to Jiaodong City (today's Pingdu City). Changguang and Jimo belong to Changguang County.
In the seventh year of Tianbao (556), Emperor Wenxuan of the Northern Qi Dynasty, Changguang County was moved to Zhonglangcheng (now Longkou City, Yantai City), and the three counties of Jimo, Luxiang and Changguang were merged into Changguang County. , Changguang County government moved to the original Jiaodong City (today's Pingdu City). In the early Sui Dynasty, it was Changguang County. In the 16th year of Emperor Wen's reign (596) of the Sui Dynasty, Luxiang County was restored. In the first year of Renshou (601), Changguang County was renamed Jiaoshui County.
From the middle and late Tang Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty, it was Jiaoshui County. In the 22nd year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1389), it was changed to Pingdu Prefecture, with Changyi and Weixian counties under its control. It was called Pingdu Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty. It was changed to Sanzhou in about the twelfth year of Yongzheng (1734) and no longer included counties. In 1913, Pingdu was changed from prefecture to county. During the Anti-Japanese War, Pingdu City and its surrounding areas became occupied areas. From early 1938, the puppet Pingdu County Office was established until September 1945.
The Pingdu County Government of the Republic of China was stationed in Zhugou, Zhangling and Taitou successively from the end of 1937 until the spring of 1945. In September 1940, the anti-Japanese democratic government of Pingdu County was established in the Daze mountainous area of ??the anti-Japanese base area under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. In 1941, Pingdu County was divided into Pingxi and Pingnan counties. In 1945, Pingdong County was established from Pingnan County.
In the same year, the "Sanbo" area (Changyi's "enclave" in Pingdu) belonging to Changyi County was assigned to Pingnan County, and the Helitao District belonging to Lainan County was assigned to Pingnan County. In June 1952, Pingnan County was changed to Liaolan County. In September 1953, Pingxi and Liaolan merged and were called Liaolan County, with the county people's government stationed in Liaolan; Pingdu and Pingdong merged and were named Pingdu County, with the county people's government stationed in Pingdu City. In June 1956, Pingdu and Liaolan merged and were called Pingdu County, with the County People's Committee stationed in Pingdu City.
In March 1957, some villages in Zhougezhuang District and Wanjia, Landi, and Cuijiaji Districts were placed under Gaomi, Jiaoxian, and Changyi respectively. In October 1983, Pingdu County was placed under Qingdao City. In July 1989, Pingdu was removed from the county and established as a city, and the municipal government was located in Pingdu City.
