Why is Chaozhou translated into Chaozhou dialect?

Chaoshan, formerly known as "Chaozhou", with English names Teochew, TeoSwa and Chaoshan, refers to the Chaozhou cultural influence area in eastern Guangdong. It is an important part of Haixi Economic Zone, the main settlement of ancient northern immigrants in China, and the home of more than 30 million Chaozhou children at home and abroad.

In the organizational history of past dynasties, the administrative names of Chaoshan area once included Jieyang Garrison (Qin Barracks), Yi 'an County, Yingzhou, Chaozhou, Chaozhou Road and Chaozhou House.

Since the Song Dynasty, it has been called "Zou Lu by the Sea" because of its rich humanities and prosperous culture.
