A bronze statue of a slave on Alice Island.

On Alice Island, there is a huge bronze statue of slaves. The slaves wore chains on their feet, some helped each other, and some held their children. They are cold, hungry and skinny ... this bronze statue truly reproduces the tragic situation of black people being sold to North America as slaves. In a sense, this is also the repentance of the American people for this disgraceful history of blood and tears.

An exhibition entitled "Slavery in new york" sponsored by the new york Historical Society once again reminds people that slavery almost spread to North America 13 states where European immigrants first settled. Slaves played a vital role in the early development of new york, and their living conditions were not better than their companions in the southern plantations.
