The states in the United States are so organized, what is the basis for determining them? On what basis are national boundaries determined?

Comparing the division of administrative regions between China and the United States, we will find a significant difference. The boundaries of Chinese provinces often have regional characteristics. People living on both sides of the dividing line often have obvious differences in their living habits and customs.

The United States does not have such characteristics in terms of state division. The dividing lines between many of its states are straight, making it appear that many states in the United States are square in shape. Why does the United States divide these states this way?

This has to do with the culture that the United States adheres to. The United States is a country of immigrants whose original inhabitants were native Indians.

Later, after Europeans immigrated in large numbers, they occupied large areas in the east. After the Revolutionary War, 13 eastern states gained independence and established a federal state.

These 13 states were originally British colonies. In order to facilitate management, the British adopted a straight-line division method.

Although the dividing lines between these states do not look very straight and are curved in some places, overall these states are neat and uniform. After independence, the United States expanded its territory westward.

In order to facilitate the management of these lands, it divides administrative areas according to longitude and latitude lines. Perhaps the reason why the United States can be divided in this way is related to the fact that most of its territories are plain areas.

There is no need to consider some geographical obstacles when dividing administrative regions in plain areas. China's plain areas are scattered, with plain areas mixed with mountains and hills. In this way, the people who have lived here for a long time have divided into a variety of people with different customs and habits based on the different geographical environments.

When the Qing Dynasty established provinces, they were also divided according to these already formed regions, which facilitated centralized local management. It can be seen from this that the division of administrative regions is mainly based on historical reasons.

If it is an uncivilized territory, it may be divided according to some geographical demarcation features. If it is a plain area, there is no need to consider so much in dividing it.

In particular, the territories of the United States are still colonial in nature, so there is no need to take care of the living customs of the original residents.

After humans immigrate to Mars, they will obviously establish a large-scale residential area on the surface of Mars. At that time, the division of administrative regions should be based on the degree of development of the residential areas, and areas where the population is concentrated should be divided into independent economic and political centers.

As for the division of national boundaries, there is not so much emphasis on it. Naturally, the more territorial requirements each country has, the better. Few countries will choose to give up the opportunity to acquire a certain piece of territory because they consider the lives of residents in the other country's territory.

It can be found by comparing the dividing lines of administrative regions and the division of national boundaries. One is to consolidate rule, and the other is to gain more territory. These two are two different aspects.

On the basis of acquiring more territory, the administrative regions will be divided taking into account the living habits of the indigenous people in the territory and the convenience of management.
