How to apply for a British student visa?

Methods/steps

1

Step 1. Define your visa type.

Generally speaking, for international students, the types of visas applied are: student, family member, visiting relatives and friends, etc.

Student visa: The purpose is to study in the UK. The duration of the visa is determined according to the length of study. Working hours are limited to 20 hours/week, and you can apply for degree certification after graduation.

Family visa: It's a student visa. The visa period is unlimited, and you can go to school according to British law. However, after returning to China, the Ministry of Education of China did not recognize the degree obtained by holding a student visa. Accompanying students in Britain can't transfer to student visas, but they can only reapply at home.

Visitor visa: up to 6 months, unable to work, able to read the language (because the professional course 1 year or more, the visa period is not enough).

2

Step two. Ask where to apply for a visa.

According to the British Embassy in China, applicants can apply for visas in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou respectively. The British Embassy in Beijing accepts applications from people living in North China, Central China and West China. Residents of Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu should apply to the British Consulate General in Shanghai. Residents of Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Hainan should apply to the British Consulate General in Guangzhou. Please note that the British Consulate General in Chongqing does not provide visa services at present.

four

Step four. Understand the possible problems in the visa process.

If there is anything unreasonable or needs special explanation in the materials, we must consider how to deal with the visa officer. Because the interview will be very tense, stuttering will easily make vo suspicious. Click here to refer to the experience of people who have experienced it.

five

Step five. Appointment visa

You need to provide your name, passport number, visa type, the date you want to make an appointment, and your contact number, fax or email address.

If the visa you apply for is the same as the one you recently applied for in the UK, you can go directly to the visa office from Monday to Friday at 13.30- 15.00 without making an appointment. If you change the visa type, you still need to make an appointment.

six

Step six. Understand the address, surrounding environment and traffic of the visa office and make full preparations.

In particular, applicants living outside Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou need to arrive in advance. Because the documents you carry with you are very important, you must put safety first when you check in, and don't be greedy for petty gain, which will cause irreparable consequences.

Prepare clean and tidy clothes and don't wear slippers.

All the materials should be sorted in the above order, so that the visa officer can clearly see the organization of the materials and make a good impression before interviewing you.

seven

Step seven. interview

Go to the visa office for an interview as scheduled, bring a pen and complete the information. Don't bring anything extra, because you have to go through security when you enter the door. Too many things are troublesome.

Leisure books can relax the nerves. It is not recommended to bring a walkman, because you may not hear it when you call your name.

Don't be nervous during the interview. Politeness is necessary, such as knocking at the door, saying hello, thanking at the end, and closing the door quietly when you come out. Whether you can get a visa or not, self-restraint must be reflected. Self-confidence is the most important thing in the interview, because the visa officer has carefully examined your information, and the interview is only to ask questions that are unclear. If the materials are true and sufficient, there is no problem with the visa!

eight

Step eight. After the interview

Get a visa:

General visas can be obtained on the same day or the next day. It is normal if vo only provides the receipt during the interview. In this case, you need to call the visa office a few days before the date marked on the receipt, and you can usually get it one or two days in advance.

When you get a visa, you must check it on the spot. Sometimes the visa office will write wrong information (I have encountered it twice myself), which will have an impact on entry and exit.

Required supplementary materials:

This situation is not a refusal, but the visa officer thinks that your materials are insufficient and they need more information to decide whether to grant you a visa. You only need to prepare supplementary materials according to the requirements of the visa officer, which is why I object to false materials-supplementary materials are often loopholes, and the more you fill in the loopholes, the bigger the loopholes.

Denied visa:

When you are depressed, think carefully about what to do next.

If your materials are true, you believe that you can get a visa, but vo deliberately makes things difficult, you can appeal, and the appeal documents will be attached to the visa refusal letter.

If there are problems with the materials or you don't want to complain, you can reapply. There is no time limit for two applications. We should pay attention to analyzing the reasons for refusing visas and don't repeat the same mistakes.

British visa-face-to-face visa

1

Applicants are advised to prepare for the interview from the following aspects:

2

1. Don't be late for the interview, and bring materials that can answer the visa officer's questions.

three

2. Be confident in the face of the visa officer and make sincere eye contact. Evasiveness will make the visa officer think that you are evasive. In addition, don't wear exaggerated jewelry, don't make up, and wear simple and generous clothes.

four

3. Learn to slow down, be good at listening, but be quick enough to respond. Some interviewees want to behave well or impress the visa officer, so they speak faster, but it may give the impression that the visa officer doesn't understand or thinks you are eager to succeed.

five

4. Don't talk about topics with immigration tendency. Explain your future development according to the study abroad plan, clearly tell the interviewer your study abroad plan and ideas, and let the interviewer know the situation correctly and deeply.

six

5. Before the interview, learn more about the school you applied for and your own situation, and try to show your contact information with the school teacher in the application, so that the embassy staff can clearly understand their ideas.

Whether face-to-face or not, for students, everything should follow the principle of honesty. Although the face-to-face interview will be more difficult than handing it in, as long as you know the questions frequently asked by visa officers and make full preparations, there is no big problem in passing the face-to-face interview.

Matters needing attention

British visas, like those of other countries, are divided into short-term visas and long-term residence visas. Among them, short-term visas include business visas, study visas, visiting relatives and friends, and fiance (wife) visiting relatives; Long-term visas include study visa, work visa, high-tech immigrant visa, marriage immigrant visa, family reunion visa and so on.

According to the characteristics of British immigration policy, visa issuance also has its own uniqueness:

1, no matter what visa application, you need to make an appointment in advance;

2. Most visas in the UK require my signature;

3. You must bring the original and copy of the materials when you sign the face;

4. Visa issuance takes a long time, and if the application materials of private passport holders meet the requirements, business, visiting relatives, undergraduate (specialist) or preparatory visas can be issued within 24 hours; Visa applications such as residence, work and some graduate students need to be signed, and such applications need to be completed within 17 working days;

5. To apply for immigration visas for settlement and work in the UK, the initial visa is valid for one year. Then apply for an extension according to the actual situation.
