Once Form 9035 is approved, the applicant can apply to the Immigration Bureau through the company where he works. Generally speaking, it takes two weeks for Form 9035 and four weeks for the USCIS.
3. Extension, change of work unit and others. The H-1B first approval is valid for three years. At the end of the three-year period, you can apply for an extension for another three years, from one to six years. During the period when an extension has been applied for but has not yet been approved, H-1 status can continue to work for 240 days.
Under the following circumstances, you need to apply for a new H-1B:
Switch to a new work unit; Although you are working in the original unit, you have changed to a new job; Working conditions and salary have changed Major changes; a work unit merges with another company to form a new unit; a move from one subsidiary of the original company to another.
