Move to a place with better production and living conditions.

Datuojia village is far away from the county seat, with steep mountains and rocks, where the Yao people live in poverty and backwardness. They don't have paddy fields, and they grow grain for generations, and their output is very low. After a hard year's work, the harvest of food is only enough for a few months. They rely on the mountain to eat, go to the mountain to pick up some fungus, or tie a broom to sell some money, but the money they get back is only enough to buy some salt and a little oil necessary for life. Some Yao men living here still have the tradition of smoking opium. They walked for two days to work in neighboring Laos, doing heavy work such as chopping wood and digging the ground, and only got a little cigarette. Men go back and forth on the border just to smoke a cigarette; Women work hard in the mountains to support their families. As the days passed, children were born one after another. Maybe they are used to living on welfare every year.

In 2002, under the care and arrangement of Jiangcheng county party committee and county government, the 148 Yao people living in Dawujia moved to Laozhuzhai and started a new life.

Detoxification, the beginning of a new life

A new life begins with getting rid of drug addiction. In the past, people in Laozhuzhai Village knew that they were coming to smoke opium as soon as they heard the noise of the car, and they ran out one after another. The county narcotics control commission, the county public security bureau, the township party committee and the government have visited Laozhuzhai many times to do ideological work, and they are sensible and emotional. Some of them voluntarily quit drug addiction, and a few who could not quit were taken to compulsory detoxification centers, and two of them were sent to reeducation through labor.

The husband and wife get up early and work in the dark every day, planting valleys, growing steamed buns, looking for fungus, buying cows and buying tape recorders. But since smoking opium, the cattle have been sold slowly, the tape recorder has been sold, and the land has been planted. He has been forcing his wife to hand over the little money she secretly collected. Seven children were crying for food, but all he cared about was how many mouthfuls of opium he could smoke. When they moved, their family brought bowls and worn-out cotton cots. During compulsory detoxification, his wife came to see him with seven children. Luo Zhengxiang, a policeman from the county drug rehabilitation center, looked at the family in surprise and told him earnestly that there were so many children, why did he smoke so heavy, get rid of drugs and go back to production. Luo Zhengxiang, an old party member with a party age of 3 1 year, said that to help these Yao compatriots get rid of drug addiction, we should do a good job of drug addicts and their families, and extend our work to help them develop production and improve their lives after getting rid of drug addiction. Now, with the help of the party and the government, Li Guangqing, who has given up drug addiction, has returned to his hometown to farm, raise cattle and grow cucumbers with his wife and children. He proudly said, I used to be the most addicted to cigarettes and the poorest. Now Lao Zhu has the most fields and the most cattle, and the days are getting better and better. Six of my seven children didn't study, and now I'm the youngest.

Help, life is slowly changing.

During the implementation of the biogas project in Laozhuzhai, the county forestry bureau, the township party committee and the government raised funds to help each household build biogas digesters and pig houses. Almost one household invested 2400 yuan, and finally only 1 1 households signed up. Zhou wenbin, the deputy head of this project, said that this work is very difficult, and a lot of work has been done, but it is hard for them to accept. But now this 1 1 household has played a good demonstration role. Seeing that biogas can be used for lighting and cooking, the Yao people in Laozhuzhai are slowly accepting and changing. Zhou wenbin said that to change the life of the Yao people in Laozhuzhai, we must first create basic conditions for their production and life, and then give them some good policies and some incentive mechanisms to gradually guide them to change and develop.

The fields are open, but Xintian is barren. How to fertilize? How to sow rice? How to conduct on-site management? Many production topics are placed in front of the Yao people. Faced with the difficulties of Yao compatriots, many departments and party member are quietly working for the development of Laozhuzhai. The township government organized agricultural workers to hold training courses in Laozhuzhai and bought them televisions and DVD players. Seeing that their newly opened fields were short of water, the county water conservancy bureau and the religious affairs bureau helped them build two ditches. With water, they could open more new fields. George Zhao, deputy secretary of the National Day Township Party Committee, said that in the past, I went to Laozhuzhai to help catch drug addicts, but now I go to Laozhuzhai to help them solve problems in production and life. Many adults in Laozhuzhai have never been to school, and some have just dropped out of school for a year or two. Li Zhengxiang, the leader of the villagers' group in Laozhuzhai, only attended primary school for one year and used to smoke a lot. However, after detoxification, he won the trust of the masses and was elected as the leader of the villagers' group. He said that the masses trusted me and elected me as the team leader. My skill can't be to take them to the township government for relief food every day.

"Heavy smoking is harmful to many people, so we must give up smoking." With this idea, Li Zhengxiang called a meeting of the whole stockade and elected three security guards and three supervisors.
