What to buy for new immigrants in Vancouver?

Hello, the basic auto insurance in BC province is compulsory, and only ICBC provides the basic insurance. There is no competition in the monopoly market, so the price is much higher than that in some other provinces. In other provinces, there will be four or five auto insurance companies to choose from, and the price will be lower than Vancouver. For example, car insurance in Alberta is cheaper than that in Vancouver 1/3 or so.
