On May 20th, 2020, Ontario nominated and published new regulations. The renewal requirements of employer-sponsored projects in Ontario tend to be tightened, which puts forward new and higher requirements for employers. The requirements are as follows:

OINP requires employers to prove that they have made reasonable efforts to recruit Canadian citizens or permanent residents before recruiting overseas workers, unless:

1. The applicant has a work visa to work in Ontario;

2. The position has been approved by the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

Employers should first recruit in China by themselves, or turn to domestic specialized recruitment agencies or expert headhunters for help. After hard work, overseas workers will only be considered if there are no relevant talents in China.
