Fujian was called "Min" in ancient times.

At the end of the Warring States period, the descendants of Gou Jian, the King of Yue, came to Fujian to form a new tribe with local residents, called Min Yue. After the Tang Dynasty, Wang was named the King of Fujian, and Fujian was called the Kingdom of Fujian. Fujian was later referred to as Fujian for short.

The Governor's Office of Fujian was established in the Tang Dynasty, belonging to Fujian, Fujian, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou and Chaozhou. The names of Fujian were taken from Fuzhou and Jianzhou respectively, which was the beginning of Fujian's name.
