1985 Summer, Kurt dropped out of high school. Neither his mother nor his teacher can understand. Kurt's art teacher in high school was impressed by the anger in his paintings, so with his help, Kurt won scholarships from several universities, and it was not a problem to go to school.

Kurt's mother Wendy asked him what he was going to do. Kurt said he would make a living by music. Wendy scoffed at this. Then, he followed Melvins members around, learning their rehearsals, secretly writing songs, doing nothing, doodling, hanging out, sleeping on the street and music.

At the end of 1985, Kurt began to rehearse his works with Dale Crawford and Greg Hawkson. He named his first band shit. Then the band recorded a demo, Kurt's first official demo. At that time, Kurt had not yet formed, and the noise+heavy metal rhythm was actually not Kurt's autistic heart.

Third, break the cocoon

It will be difficult to succeed in Fecak soon. It's natural. But Kurt grew up in these days, and more importantly, he met his best friend Chris Novaserich, the bass player of Nirvana.

Krist, 1965 May 16 was born in Compton, California, and his parents were immigrants from Croatia. His family moved to Aberdeen on 1979. Like Kurt, Krister is quiet and dull, and only likes listening to rock music. 1983, his parents divorced. After graduating from high school, he had nothing to do, so he stayed at home and practiced guitar. Rehearsal at Melvin Theatre led him to meet Kurt, and they became best friends.

Then they started rehearsing together. Since only one person named Alan Burkhardt has a set of drums of his own, these three people formed a team.

But ..... three people have different musical ideas. Krister likes hippies and psychedelic rock in the 1960s, while Kurt is a punk die-hard. Aron's hobby is mainstream heavy metal, and he has no interest in punk.

Nevertheless, they still practice day and night, waiting for the performance.

Olympia, 50 kilometers from Aberdeen, is the capital of Washington State and the local cultural center. Underground music is quietly growing there.

Kurt once sang his poem to the audience for the first time here-but he was so nervous that almost no one in the audience noticed the crying of the yellow-haired boy on the stage. With some exceptions, Dylan Carlson and Slim Moon noticed Kurt's sensitive temperament, which was not fully revealed but could not be concealed. After Kurt finished singing, he came up to him and said it was delicious. From then on, they became lifelong friends. These two people are figures in the underground music circle of Olympia.

Kurt called them Calvinists: Calvin Johnson, the flag figure of the Beat Band, preached a "natural, harmonious and childlike" outlook on life.

Kurt likes them because they are connected in the depths of their souls. Since then, Kurt has often traveled between Aberdeen and Olympia.

Then there was the first performance. Warm-up of a metal band in Raymond town. But this is just a play by Kurt to vent his dissatisfaction with the middle-class yuppies. I really sang my own song and went back to Olympia: there were only ten people in the Gescco Auditorium where Kurt once appeared. At the beginning of the performance, the audience was in high spirits and excited. Kurt saw the power of his music in it.

Fourth, single.

Gradually, the band began to hug, people liked this silent blond guy, and someone came to watch them rehearse. Kurt has his first girlfriend, Tracy Malam, who lives in Olympia. When Kurt was kicked out by the landlord in Aberdeen, Tracy asked him to move in, so Kurt had a nest for the first time. Kurt insisted on sharing part of the rent with the money from the band's occasional performances, but Tracy thought he'd better get a job. Kurt was about to go out when he heard this, and then Tracy lost her temper.

But Kurt finally went to work; He drives a broken-down car and two other colleagues to deliver goods every day, but he soon gets tired of it. The two burly colleagues were very dissatisfied with him. He said, "I can't get along with those two amateurs."

Kurt gave the demo tapes to all the independent record companies he knew. He sent about 20 audition tapes and received a lot of responses, as well as various small gifts, including dolls, candy and old condoms with fake ants, but there was no audition notice or invitation he longed for.

The next drummer is Dave Foster. Kurt thought he was average, but he accepted him anyway. But he was soon sentenced to one year's imprisonment for offending the mayor's son. Kurt had to invite Alan back, but he slipped back into his old ways and didn't attend the rehearsal.
