Is there a difference between a visa and an entry permit?

Chinese mainland residents must apply for travel permits, endorsements and entry permits to Taiwan.

The concept of visa is a certificate issued by one sovereign country to nationals of another sovereign country to enter a sovereign country, and both parties must be reciprocal countries.

Entry Permit is a passport issued by the Immigration Department of the Republic of China to mainland people to pass through Taiwan Province Customs. In fact, the function is passport+visa (because the two sides do not recognize each other's sovereignty, the mainland passport is invalid in Taiwan Province Province. According to their constitution, the mainland is a part of Taiwan Province Province, but it has no actual control, so a country cannot issue visas. People from other countries who want to go to Taiwan Province Province will put a Republic of China visa on their passports.
