Francis ford coppola (also translated by Francis kopra,1April 7, 939) is an American film director. His most famous works include The Godfather Trilogy, Apocalypse Now and Dracula.

Coppola studied film at UCLA, when he had made several short films, including pornographic films. In the late1960s, he started his career, making low-budget movies and writing plays with roger corman.

His portrayal of General Patton won an Oscar. However, his success as a film producer is in 1970' s Godfather and Godfather 2, but he is both a screenwriter and a director. 1999, Nicolas Cage's cousin, Ms. Coppola, married Spike Jonze, who is also a director. In 2003, she wrote, produced and directed another feature film, Lost in Translation. This is a romantic comedy starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. This film won Coppola the Lina Mangiacapre Award at Venice Film Festival.
