Famous stateless person

Famous stateless people are Miao and Karen ethnic minorities in Thailand.

In the summer of 20 18, the whole world was troubled by the plight of 12 young football players and their coaches trapped in flooded caves in Thailand. However, not all trapped players are Thai. Three of them and their coach are stateless.

It is estimated that there are 3.5 million stateless people in Thailand. Many of them live in the northernmost part of Thailand, along the border between Myanmar and Laos and the mountainous jungle known as the Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle is the base camp of highland tribal organizations and militia, who sometimes fight with the governments of Thailand and Myanmar.

Some stateless boys in caves in Thailand live in the Golden Triangle. They are the children of undocumented immigrants who fled guerrilla warfare in Myanmar. However, without documents, their children cannot apply for citizenship, which makes them stateless.

There are thousands of stateless people in Thailand, who are members of indigenous "mountain tribes", such as ackner, Ranu, Yao and Miao. Since 1980, members of these organizations have been deprived of their citizenship because of the suppression of illegal immigrants in this area.

Unlike some other countries on our list, Thailand seems to be making serious efforts to grant citizenship to its stateless minorities. A government resolution in 20 17 provided a way out for 80,000 stateless people, most of whom were children of immigrants and refugees, including Rohingyas.

Survival of stateless persons

A stateless person refers to a person who is not regarded as a national by the laws of any country, has no nationality or does not belong to any country. Stateless persons do not enjoy the diplomatic protection of any country internationally. In other words, you don't have to bear the obligations of any country, and of course you won't be protected by any country. He will be deported at any time and will not get social security in his later years.

Therefore, stateless people are harmful to nothing, and some people even have dual or triple nationality in order to get more benefits. China's Nationality Law stipulates that after legally becoming a stateless person, the relevant departments shall issue corresponding certificates to him. This certificate is equivalent to a foreigner's passport. Foreigners buy houses in China without hukou, but they have passports.
