Three hot spring areas in Guanziling Hot Spring

Guanziling Hot Spring Scenic Area is the crown of hot springs in Taiwan. It is 0/2km away from Tainan City/Kloc-0 and is located in Guanziling Town at the foot of Yangming Mountain. Datun, Qixing and Shamao Peak are surrounded on three sides, and the Danshui River in the south winds like a belt. There are many hot springs here, and the unique hot spring hotel has five steps on the first floor and ten steps on the first floor, looming between valleys and streams.

Guanziling has three hot spring areas: Guanziling, Yangmingshan and Jinshan. These three hot springs have their own characteristics. Guanziling hot spring is pink and white, with a little powder gas; Yangmingshan hot spring is dark green and has a heavy sulfur smell; Jinshan hot spring is clear, so you can take a bath or drink. Guanziling is the largest hot spring area in Renshan Hot Spring Area of Datun. Datun Volcano Group consists of more than ten extinct volcanoes, such as Datun Mountain, Qixing Mountain, Zhuzi Mountain, Neiliao Mountain and Huangzui Mountain, with an altitude of about 1000 meters, located in the north of Tainan City. Hot springs in Datun volcanic area are distributed from northeast to southwest along Jinshan fault (formerly known as Xinzhuang fault). Between Guanziling and Jinshan, there are 13 strips about18km long and 3km wide, which is one of the famous volcanic hot spring areas in China. There are mainly new Guanziling, Dashuangzui, Dazhuang (Houshan Park), Yangming Mountain, Bamboo Lake, Xiaoyoukeng, Miscanthus, Triple Bridge, Dayoukeng and other hot springs.

Datun volcano hot spring area is densely covered with springs, ranking first in the country, with as many as twenty or thirty hot spring sources. Not only the density per unit area is high, but also the temperature of spring water is high, and the temperature of spray hole or sulfur hole can reach above 100℃. Hot springs are mostly acid salt springs, with unpleasant hydrogen sulfide gas spewing out. As early as more than 200 years ago, Guanziling was still a barren slope, sparsely populated, and there were only some villages scattered with Gaoshan compatriots. Although sulfur has been found here, it has not been developed yet. 1698, Yu Yonghe, a native of Zhejiang, crossed the ocean to collect sulfur in Guanziling. Seeing the beautiful mountains and rivers here, he wrote A Journey to the Sea, describing the scenery here in great detail. Later Guanziling was developed. With the development of tourism and the utilization of hot springs, it was not until nearly 60 years that it became a famous holiday resort.

There are three kinds of springs in Guanziling hot spring area: one is pure soil spring water, colorless and transparent, slightly sour. The spring temperature is 59℃, so it is called "iron soup". This is because the spring water is mixed with reddish-brown sediments, so it is named. In fact, "iron soup" itself is transparent, colorless and tasteless, and people with neuralgia and gastrointestinal diseases are suitable for bathing in simple earth hot springs. Second, the acidic copperas spring is a colorless, odorless and transparent liquid, slightly acidic, with a spring temperature of 65℃, commonly known as "long soup". Frequent bathing can treat boils, ulcers and other chronic diseases. The third is the acidic fluidized hydrogen spring, which is turbid and white with a slight sulfur smell. The temperature in spring is 48℃, commonly known as "fish soup". Patients with dermatoses and gynecological diseases can bathe in acidic hydrogen sulfide springs. Three kinds of hot springs, Tieyang, Tang Long and Xing Tang, have different curative effects on people with different diseases. Yangmingshan hot spring gushes from the foot of Qixing Mountain, which is a pure hydrogen sulfide spring with a large amount of water and overflows into a stream. People call it the sister spring of Guanziling. The scenery here is very beautiful. In spring, the cherry blossoms are gorgeous, the azaleas are red, and in summer, the breeze is blowing gently and the pines are bursting. It is a summer resort.

The hot spring pools in Guanziling Park are winding and secluded, with pavilions and pavilions scattered all over the place. The scenery is beautiful and fascinating. There is a small yellow waterfall in the north corner of the park. Interestingly, this waterfall is actually warm, so it is called "Guanziling Warm Waterfall". Walking up the quiet path on the left, for about half an hour, the three characters "Hell Valley" came into view. This is the birthplace of many hot spring streams in Guanziling. Hell Valley is slightly oval, with an area of about 30 to 40 mu. There are many spring holes at the bottom of the valley, which are as big as palms and as small as pearls. Hot water gushes out all the year round and becomes a hot water lake over time. The lake occasionally spews white smoke more than ten feet high, and the sulfur gas is transpiration, like a cloud, burning and pressing, and the spring temperature is as high as 90℃. In order to increase the fun of traveling, tourists put raw eggs in flowing hot spring water and cook them for 15 minutes. Eating in the mouth has a faint smell of sulfur.

Between the back of the valley and the mountainside of the "Hell Valley", there are lush trees and hot spring water gushing from the crevices. It's foggy here all day, giving people an ethereal mystery. Only when a breeze blows occasionally can people get a glimpse of the true face of Lushan Mountain.

When night falls, the whole hell valley is shrouded in a fog, which is both charming and scary. It is said that a tourist once slipped into a hot water lake and was burned to death. The name "Hell's Valley" with horror is spread from this. Later, the relevant departments thought its name was indecent and renamed it "Yuquan Valley". However, it was not called "Hell Valley" at that time, but it was already "famous".

Take the train from Guanzi Lingnan to Shilin District, and you can transfer to the bus to visit Zhishanyan and the Palace Museum. Zhishanyan is located on an isolated mountain leading to the intersection of Waishuangxi and Yangmingshan in Shilin District of Tainan, with an altitude of about 50 meters. On the surface, it is not connected with Datun Mountain Group, but in fact it is in the same strain as Xiazhulin Mountain and Bazipu Mountain. The rock wall around Shan Zhi Rock is broken and vertical, which is particularly tall and straight. There are towering trees nearby and the environment is very quiet. It is said that there is a Shan Zhi in Zhangzhou, Fujian, which is very famous. After Zhangzhou immigrants came here across the ocean, they often climbed this mountain because they missed their hometown of Chinese mainland, and later named it after the famous mountain in their hometown.

Many tourists like to visit the ancient times in Zhishanyan and find and develop historical sites in Tainan. As early as the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Zhangzhou people along the coast of Fujian came to cultivate near Shipai, and gradually expanded to Shilin and Zhishanyan. At that time, in order to protect the gods, people chose the beautiful and verdant area of Zhiyan Mountain in Yuanshanzai as the place to build temples. In the seventeenth year of Qianlong, Wang Sheng Temple in Zhang Kai was built to worship Chen Yuanguang, the patron saint of Zhangzhou people. Later, the bell tower and drum tower were built, called Huiji Palace. Until today, Huiji Palace is still well preserved, which has become the evidence for the people of the motherland to develop and manage Taiwan Province Island. During the light years of the Qing Dynasty, local residents established the first private school in Wenchang Temple in Zhishanyan, which promoted the development of local cultural and educational undertakings.

After 1895, the Japanese invaders occupied Taiwan Province Province and forced our compatriots in Taiwan Province Province to learn Japanese. However, scholars refused to assimilate, fought back and wiped out many Japanese officials and sergeants in Zhishanyan. The Japanese army was angry at the local residents and killed innocent people, so later generations erected a monument on the top of Shan Zhi Rock to commemorate it. The Japanese Prime Minister at that time was alarmed by this news and ordered the establishment of the Zhishanyan Shrine to commemorate the dead of the invaders. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, the suffering people of Taiwan Province demolished the shrine dedicated to the dead of the invaders and set up the Supreme Rock Monument.

There is also an old castle built in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty-Shicheng, Shan Zhi. These walls are all made of stone. There used to be four gates, east, west, south and north, but now three gates are abandoned, leaving only the west gate for tourists to mourn. Boarding it can remind people of ancient love.

Close to Zhishanyan is Shuangxi Park. To the east is a magnificent Palace Museum, which is built on a mountain with blue tiles and yellow walls. It is not only a place for compatriots in Taiwan Province Province to appreciate the cultural relics of the motherland, but also a place to get to the bottom and express homesickness. Jinshan Hot Spring is located in Shuiwei Village, Jinshan Township, Tainan County. According to legend, in the sixth year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1867), a major earthquake occurred in Jinshan area, and sulfur springs gushed out in the south, hence the name "Jinshan Hot Spring".

Jinshan coast is a sandy area. The hot spring here is called Huanggang Hot Spring. The water temperature is about 60-80℃, and the spring water is ochre, which can treat gastrointestinal diseases, dermatoses and gynecological diseases.
