Ned Kelly, a jungle ranger, is one of Australia's greatest folk heroes. Painters, writers, musicians and filmmakers all commemorate him. There are more books, songs and websites about Ned Kelly and Kelly Gang than any other historical figures in Australia.

When people are asked about Ned Kelly, the answers are usually quite extreme. They either regarded him as a hero who fought for his family and friends, or regarded him as a jungle ranger who robbed banks, stole livestock and murdered policemen.

Edward Ned Kelly is the eldest son of an Irish Catholic couple. His father is an ex-con and his mother is an immigrant. He was born in June of 185 5, and was executed in 1880 at the age of 25.

When he was a teenager, he was a "jungle worker"-barking, training horses, driving cattle and fencing. From here he escalated to stealing cattle and horses.

In Ned's short life, he was arrested for attacking others, stealing horses and robbing banks, and finally got? Ned and Dan Kelly were offered a reward 100 for attempting to murder a policeman. Then the reward was raised to? 1000 to Kelly gang who murdered three policemen in stirling buck creek.

After more bank robberies, the Kelly gang made a "last stand" in Glenron, Victoria. They took 60 hostages in a hotel. In the battle with the police, three gang members-Dan Kelly, Joe Bourne and steve hart-were killed, and an injured Ned was arrested and accused of murdering a policeman. Ned Kelly was convicted of murdering police officer Ronnie Logan in Sterling Barker Creek and hanged in Melbourne prison.
