Introduction of Chaoyang dialect
Chaoyang dialect is a regional dialect in Chaozhou dialect. People who speak Chaozhou dialect are mainly distributed in Chaoyang District and Chaonan District of Shantou, and Puning of Jieyang is also distributed. Mild accent, similar to Jieyang's Huilai accent and Puning accent. Chaoshan was called Chaozhou in ancient times, and now it mainly refers to Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang, and also includes Shanwei in a broad sense. It should be pointed out that Chaozhou dialect belongs to a branch of Minnan language family and moved to Shantou, Chaozhou in the 9th century to18th century. At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, hundreds of thousands of Putian people from southern Fujian collectively moved south to eastern Guangdong, which is today's Chaoshan area. With the change of people flow, cultural exchanges in different regions have created the diversity of Chaoshan dialect.
