Legal basis

Article 8 of the Regulations on Registration of Household Registration of the People's Republic of China, if a citizen dies, the household head, relatives, dependents or neighbors shall report the death registration to the household registration authority and cancel the household registration within one month before the burial in the city and in the countryside. If a citizen dies in his temporary residence, the household registration authority of the temporary residence shall notify the household registration authority of the permanent residence to cancel his household registration.
