According to the "Adoption Law of the People's Republic of China", adopters must meet the following requirements:

1. No heirs. This point requires that the applicant for adoption has not given birth to a child before, does not have a stepchild or stepdaughter, and has not adopted anyone else.

2. Have the ability to raise and educate adoptees. It mainly refers to the fact that the adopter has basically full capacity for civil conduct, and has the ability to raise and educate the adoptee in terms of intelligence, health, family background, etc., and can fulfill the obligations of parents to their children.

3. No special diseases: There are no diseases that are medically recognized as unadoptable children. This mainly refers to some mental illnesses and infectious diseases.

4. Aged 30 or above. What this means is that the adopter must be thirty years old (including 30 years old), and if they are a couple, both must be reached.

5. Both parties agree. If you have a spouse, your spouse’s consent must be obtained.

6. Sufficient age difference. If a man without a wife adopts a girl, the age difference between the two will be more than forty.

7. Special circumstances are not restricted. If you are adopting your nephews, nieces, nieces, cousins, nieces, nephews, nieces, etc., then you can ignore the conditions of "age difference of 40 years", "children under 14 years old" and "biological parents' family poverty" .

What materials are needed to apply for an adoption certificate

·General materials

The adopter should submit an adoption application and the following documents and supporting materials:

2. Proof of marital status, presence of children, parenting and education capabilities, etc. provided by the adopter’s unit, village committee, or neighborhood committee (choose one from three).

3. The health certificate provided by hospitals at or above the county level is mainly to confirm that the applicant does not have any medical disease that makes it impossible to adopt a child.

If it is an orphan whose biological parents cannot be contacted, the applicant is required to provide a birth certificate of the adopter issued by the family planning department of the city where he or she is resident; if the child is from Welfare institution, and the biological parents cannot be found, then the following materials are also required:

1. Certificate of childlessness provided by the family planning department of the place of habitual residence.

2. Proof of reporting the case of picking up abandoned babies or children provided by the police.
