Where is the Dongtu Datang in Journey to the West?

In The Journey to the West, the Tang Priest always likes to say, "The poor monk came to the Tang Dynasty from the east." . Why did the Tang Priest say that he came from the East of the Tang Dynasty? Why not just say I'm from the Tang Dynasty? This is a conceptual problem.

During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, China's economy and culture were world-class, and its cultural exchanges with foreign countries were quite frequent. In the history of the Tang Dynasty, there were epoch-making cultural exchange events such as "Xuanzang going west" and "Jian Zhen crossing east". Xuanzang's Journey to the West took place during the Zhenguan period, which was the most famous period of the Tang Dynasty in the world. During this period, "Silk Road" merchants and Arab caravans frequently appeared, and foreign faces were seen from time to time in Chang 'an.

Xuanzang studied Buddhism since he was a child, and found that the translation of Hinayana Buddhism into the Tang Dynasty was confusing and wrong, so he sprouted the idea of studying in Tianzhu. After Xuanzang told Li Shimin, the supreme ruler at that time, he got the support of Li Shimin. So Xuanzang went west to India and brought back Mahayana Buddhist scriptures.

Wu Cheng'en, a writer in the Ming Dynasty, wrote The Journey to the West, a ghost novel, based on the story of Xuanzang's learning from the scriptures. In Journey to the West, Tang Priest always said, "The poor monk came to the Tang Dynasty from the east." Geographically, India borders China and Tibet, but Tibet in the Tang Dynasty was called "Tubo" and was another country. Moreover, the Tubo mountains are towering and covered with snow all year round. If you appear from Tubo, it will be difficult to reach Tianzhu. Yunnan, which is close to India and Myanmar, is within the scope of Nanzhao Prefecture. The south-central part is a smoky place with a hot climate and dense jungle, so it is difficult to go. So I chose the Silk Road, all the way to the west, then turned south from Afghanistan and arrived in Tianzhu today via Pakistan.

Because Xuanzang's route to learn the scriptures is to go west first, and the hometown of the Tang Dynasty is east, so India is west and the Tang Dynasty is east. The Tang Dynasty, on the other hand, showed off its power to foreigners. "Oriental Datang" is the Tang Dynasty, a great eastern country.

In the process of studying Buddhist scriptures in the Buddhist Temple in the West, Tang Priest basically said a word when he signed up in every place. The poor monk is the special envoy of the Eastern Tang Dynasty to learn from the Western Classics, Tang Sanzang!

So where is this East Land Datang?

In ancient times, the Eastern Tang Dynasty was our present China.

The Tathagata Buddha did not ask monks from other countries for Buddhist scriptures, but directly asked people from the Tang Dynasty.

The place where the screamo temple is located is actually Tianzhu country. Tianzhu is India.

China and India are two neighboring countries, and it is impossible to reach a distance of 108,000 miles.

Obviously, it's right that The Journey to the West's Dongtu Datang is our present China, but Tianzhu Leiyin Temple was made by The Journey to the West according to Xuanzang's The Journey to the West.

The world outlook of Journey to the West is: heaven, earth and hell. Heaven and hell are divided into 33 layers and 18 layers of hell according to the religious cosmology.

According to Buddhist legend, the universe has four continents, namely Dongsheng Shenzhou, Nanshan Buzhou, Xiniu Hezhou and Luzhou in the north. The Monkey King was born in Ole, Dongsheng Shenzhou, and Tang Priest was born in the Tang Dynasty in the East, while the Tang Dynasty in the East was located in Nanzhou.

Our human life belongs to the South Mountain but not the continent (the earth), also known as Jambu-Di^pa. Although people living on this continent are not as good as the other three continents in terms of ecological environment, good fortune and bad luck, and longevity; However, our unique characteristics such as "courage", "remembrance" and "Sanskrit" are superior to those of three continents and heaven.

The Tang Priest often mentioned "the land of the East in the Tang Dynasty" refers to the whole territory of the Tang Dynasty in a broad sense. In a narrow sense, it refers to Chang 'an (now Xi 'an), the capital of Datang.

Tang Sanzang's voyage to the West was in the period of Li Shimin, the son of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty in China. It was the most prosperous period in China's history. Nowadays, in many places abroad, shops where Chinese people gather are called Chinatown, which shows that the culture of the Tang Dynasty has always influenced modern times.

At that time, the Tang Dynasty was a superpower with strong military and economic strength, so people who reported the Tang Dynasty would be respected abroad.

Tang Priest said that the Tang Dynasty in the East was not a place in China. At that time, Chang 'an was the capital (west of today's Xi city).
