In August, 2008, during the Beijing Olympic Games, Gongla Mei Duo, a work showing "College Students' Volunteer Service Plan for the West" and a Tibetan-Chinese family, was filmed in Golmud Immigrant Village, Haixi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Gongla Mei Duo tells the story of Su Youzi, a female college student of Han nationality, who volunteered to serve the west and came to Mingde Primary School of Jiangyuan National School, the immigrant village head of Golmud, Qinghai. These students are migrant children from Tanggula Town and Qumalai County in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture at high altitude. Female college students of Han nationality teach children basic English, geography and fine arts, and offer lectures on scientific knowledge, so that simple grassland children can open their eyes and gain new knowledge.
