On May 14th, 1942, more than 6 people from the 85th Battalion of the 59th Brigade of the 69th Infantry Division of the Japanese Army and more than 1 people from Lanxian County, Dongcun Village and Zhaizi Village, respectively, attacked Xingxian County, where the 12th Division is located. Li Fuke, chief of staff of the 358th Brigade, was ordered to lead the brigade and command the Shanxi New Army. First, a few troops harassed, consumed and exhausted the Japanese puppet troops to cover the party, government and army organs and the masses stationed in Xingxian County, so as to clear the air and move safely.

At dusk, the Japanese puppet troops invading along the Lanxian-Xingxian highway were stopped by the 716th Regiment of the 358th Brigade in Wujiagou and Zashigou, and were forced to take the mountain road to the west, and entered Li Jiazhuang in the southwest of Jiehekou at dawn on the 15th.
