What country is Mumbai?

Mumbai is not a country, but a city belonging to India.

Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, India, is India's largest seaport and important transportation hub, and is known as India's "gateway to the West". Mumbai is located on Salsater Island off the west coast of Maharashtra, facing the Arabian Sea, with an area of 437.77 square kilometers and a total population of about140,000. It is the most populous city in India and one of the most populous cities in the world.

Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment capital of India, and the headquarters of Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange of India and many Indian companies are located in Mumbai.

The city is also the birthplace of India's North Indian film and television industry (known as Bollywood). Because of its huge business opportunities and relatively high living standards, Mumbai attracts immigrants from all over India, making the city a gathering place for various social groups and cultures.

Mumbai is the entertainment center of India and the birthplace of Indian films (the first Indian film was shot here on July 7th, 1896). Originally a silent film, it was dubbed in Marathi in the early 20th century, making it the oldest film in India. Mumbai is also famous for its numerous cinemas, including the largest IMAX Dome in Asia, where Bollywood, Marathi and Hollywood films play leading roles.

The downtown area of Mumbai is backed by green hills and faces the sea. The vast seashore beaches and quiet street gardens make the city elegant and beautiful. On the crescent coast, new high-rise buildings and old buildings complement each other. At night, colorful lights and golden lights give Mumbai the reputation of "Queen's Necklace".
