The No. 1 Middle School of Yunyang District, Shiyan City was established in 1940. It is located in the South-to-North Water Diversion Source Reservoir Area, looking around the beautiful Han River, adjacent to Shiyan, Checheng, and overlooking the towering Wudang in the distance. A new modern campus was rebuilt in 2013, and a provincial model high school was successfully established in 2015. It was originally called "The Eighth Provincial Normal School", but later changed its name and was successively called Yunxian Junior Normal School, Yunxian Suburban Middle School, Yunxian Xincheng Middle School, Yunxian No. 1 Middle School, and Yunyang District No. 1 Middle School.
