Longkong Town is located in the middle of Chongqing territory, in the east of Fengdu County, and in the center of the Three Gorges reservoir area. Located at east longitude 107 50' and north latitude 30 00', it is 27 kilometers away from Fengdu County, bordering Yang Du Town in Zhongxian County in the east, Shizhu County in the south, Gaojia Town in the west and the Yangtze River in the north. With an area of 75.6 square kilometers, it is an immigrant town in the Three Gorges reservoir area. Longkong Town has been built for more than 300 years since it was founded in A.D. 1667. 1940 established Longkong Township, 1958 changed to Longkong Commune, 1983 restored Longkong Township, 1992 Nanzhu Township merged into Longkong Township. In 2009, Longkong Township was changed to. There are 18 administrative villages and 1 community neighborhood committees in the town, namely Longkong Village, Jintai Village, Lijiaba Village, Damianchang Village, Daba Village, Fenghuang Village, Nanzhu Village, Linjiang Village, Yuxi Village, Yangque Village and Xinglong Community, with a total of 62 villagers' groups. Xinglong Community, the resident of the Town People's Government, was originally Longkong Temple.

Most of the land in this town is between 200 and 800 meters above sea level. Mount Wangxiantai in Longkong Village is the highest bee in China at an altitude of1200m, while Xikou in Dashan Village of Fenghuang Village is the lowest in Fengdu County at an altitude of118.5m. There are 8,049 households with a total population of 28,378, including non-agricultural population 1983 and agricultural population of 26,395. There are three complete primary schools, one central primary school, 1 junior high school and 1 health center in the town, and there are two financial institutions, namely, Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank and China Postal Savings Bank.
