The predecessor of the Three Gorges Museum

Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, formerly known as Southwest Museum, was established in 195 1.

Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum (Chongqing Museum) is a comprehensive historical and artistic museum featuring Bayu culture, Three Gorges culture, immigrant culture and urban culture.

Its predecessor was Southwest Museum, and it was renamed Chongqing Museum on 1955 due to the cancellation of Southwest China. In 2000, with the approval of the General Office of the State Council, Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum was established to undertake the rescue, exhibition and research of a large number of precious cultural relics in the Three Gorges Cultural Relics Protection Project.
