Procedures and conditions required for studying in Brazil

Temporary Category IV student visa is issued to overseas students and exchange students in educational exchange programs who go to schools recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and Culture to receive formal undergraduate, postgraduate and technical studies.

Applicants should submit the following documents to the consular office:

1. Passport: The passport shall be valid for no less than 6 months.

2. Two visa application forms (machine-typed and hand-filled are not allowed): The application form must be filled out in English or Portuguese, and should be signed by the applicant and marked with the date of completion. The name column and other Chinese names can be filled in in Chinese pinyin;

All application forms must be typed on both sides with an A4 paper machine and cannot be handwritten. Please obtain the form from the Brazilian Embassy in China or download it from the official website.

3. Two recent 2-inch color photos;

4. Admission notice from a Brazilian school.

5. Notarization of the applicant’s academic qualifications.

6. Notarized birth certificate of the applicant.

7. Notarization of the applicant’s criminal record.

8. Notarized income certificate of the applicant’s parents.

9. Minors under the age of 18 must have a notarized consent letter from their parents.

10. Notarization of residence for more than one year in the consular jurisdiction.

11. Notarized letter of guarantee that the applicant can afford living expenses in Brazil.

12. Notarization if not subject to criminal sanctions (under 18 years old are exempted).

13. It takes at least 10 working days after paying the fee to receive the visa.

Note: In addition, the consular office will also require the applicant to provide other supplementary materials as appropriate.

Temporary Category IV visa fee: RMB 400

Notes:

Student visa holders are not allowed to engage in gainful activities in Brazil.

The maximum stay period for the fourth category temporary visa is one year. Visa extension procedures: Applicants should apply for a visa extension at the Brazilian Federal Police at least 30 days before the expiration of the visa.
