Is Fermi Jewish?

Enrico Fermi is not Jewish, but his wife LauraCapon is of Jewish descent. Because the Italian fascist government promulgated laws against Jews in 1938, which had an impact on their lives. This prompted them to decide to leave Italy and eventually immigrate to the United States.

Enrico Fermi (1901September 29th to19541October 28th) is an Italian-American physicist, a member of the Royal Italian Academy of Sciences, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, and a member of the Royal British Academy.

He is regarded as one of the greatest theoretical physicists in the 20th century, and his contributions cover a wide range of fields, including quantum mechanics, nuclear physics and high-energy physics.
