Are domestic cats an exotic species in Türkiye? Why?

Not an alien species. Turkey is one of the origins of the domestic cat (Feliscatus), so domestic cats in Turkey can be traced back to ancient times. The Turkish people's relationship with domestic cats dates back thousands of years to ancient civilizations. Domestic cats were first domesticated in the Middle East about 8,000 years ago, where they began to become human companions. As one of the oldest places of human civilization, Turkey is naturally one of the origins of domestic cats. Therefore, it can be said that domestic cats are not an exotic species in Turkey, but are a closely connected part of Turkish culture and history.
