Studying in the UK: How to apply for a physical examination certificate and designate hospitals

Visa is the most effective gateway to control the entry of diseases, so many countries stipulate that applying for a visa requires not only a letter of admission, proof of funds, etc., but also a physical examination certificate. So, do you need to take a specific examination to study in the UK? What about the proof? Let’s learn about it together.

1. Do you need a medical certificate?

In fact, yes, according to Article 102 of the "Implementing Rules of the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China", All Chinese nationals who apply to leave the country to reside for more than one year must hold a health certificate issued by the health and quarantine agency. The exit and entry management authorities for Chinese citizens handle exit procedures with the health certificate issued by the health and quarantine authorities. Therefore, this is a regulation proposed by our country. At the beginning, I didn’t plan to take the physical examination abroad, but I heard from my senior sister that this physical examination must be done. If I didn’t get those two small books, I would be dragged into the dark room for a long time when I entered the country. I might still do it again. Deported? Then I was frightened and went to get a physical examination to go abroad. It was indeed smooth when I entered the country. However, I have a friend who did not have a small book with a health certificate. The immigration was also smooth. Although he was indeed taken to a small dark room for examination, it only lasted for 30 minutes, so there was no such thing. Health certificates are not as scary as the legend says! In fact, what I find scary is that many children reported that they were taken to a dark room with health certificates! British Customs is unreliable! Do you want to read the physical examination booklet? Coming here is also a matter of relying on RP.

Not only is the British Customs unreliable, it seems that as long as it has something to do with a corrupt country, everything becomes unreliable. I was in Beijing for my overseas physical examination. When the medical staff learned that I was going to the UK, they checked two vaccines on my list. I have a friend who got his health certificate in Zhengzhou. He also came to the UK, and the vaccine is completely different from mine! Fortunately, the UK is not a country in Africa where diseases are rampant. Even if the vaccine situation is outrageous, there is no need to worry about what will happen after coming here. What diseases will you get? But regardless of whether the UK is reliable or unreliable, I believe there are still children who have to go through overseas medical examinations in order to enter the country smoothly. Especially for children who are studying abroad in their first year, everyone knows the nervousness of seeking stability in everything, so I will tell you the procedures for getting a physical examination. In order to avoid being taken to a dark room when entering the country, I still recommend you Go get one.

2. How to do a physical examination?

First of all, you need to find where you can get a physical examination. Not just any hospital can do it! Just search it easily: "xx City International Travel Health Care Center Entry-Exit Physical Examination Center". That's it. Then you need to prepare the necessary items including ID card, passport, 4 two-inch photos, enough cash (cards are not accepted) and the school's physical examination request form (if any), and remember to go on an empty stomach. I had my physical examination in Beijing. After 2013, the issuance of health certificates for people going abroad has changed to Madian East Road, Haidian District. Children who want to go, please check in advance. Since personal physical examination does not require an appointment in advance, I would like to remind everyone to arrive early! Although the physical examination center only opens at 8 o'clock, many people are already queuing up around 7 o'clock. When I arrived at nearly nine o'clock, there was already a sea of ??people! It was really eye-opening! I think everyone must want to finish things early. After all, waiting on an empty stomach is very torturous, right? If you are unfortunate enough to get up late If you don’t, just bring an iPad or a book. You’ll really have to wait in line for a long time.

After you are lucky enough to be in line, the office staff will issue you several lists based on your situation, which list the items you need to have a physical examination. On the back of the vaccine list, you need to sign a disclaimer. . After that, I started queuing up to pay again. I was reminded again to bring enough cash, because cards are not accepted there. The price is said to be different from place to place, so it still needs to be based on the charges of your local physical examination center. After you pay the fee and get the receipt, you can go for a physical examination with the receipt.

The physical examination in Beijing is divided into blood collection, general practice, electrocardiogram, B-ultrasound, urine test, and X-ray. It is recommended that you do the blood test first, because after doing it, you can stuff some food into your stomach!

3. Going abroad Physical examination certificate for studying abroad

After that, I went to get vaccinated. Girls should not cry and complain about pain. I didn’t have time to worry about whether I was in pain or not, because there was a girl going to the United States next to me, and she needed 9 injections. A vaccine! So I was filled with sympathy for her and happiness for myself.

After the physical examination is completed, everyone needs to hand in the form to the front desk on the first floor, and then you will receive a note telling you to pick up the health examination certificate at a certain time in two days (coffee red notebook ), along with a piece of paper for a blood test. The vaccination certificate (yellow booklet) needs to be collected in the afternoon of the same day. Of course, the time for collecting evidence varies in different cities. Please refer to the time given by the local physical examination center. Therefore, it is really annoying to go abroad for physical examination. You need to go to the physical examination center over and over again. Since these two books do not need to be handed in when submitting visa materials, you do not need to go for a physical examination too early, but you need to get these two books before entering the UK, so it is better to go for a physical examination half a month to two months in advance. .

IV. Tuberculosis testing

Next, let’s talk about the tuberculosis testing that was implemented at the end of 2013! Starting from December 31, 2013, if you are a Chinese resident If you plan to apply to stay in the UK for more than 6 months (not required for children under 11 years old), you must undergo a tuberculosis test at a designated testing institution and ensure that you are not infected with tuberculosis (Tuberculosis) before you can apply for a visa. Therefore, unlike the health check above, everyone needs to complete a tuberculosis test before applying for a visa. If you plan to visit the UK for less than 6 months, you do not need to take a tuberculosis test. This inspection is specifically required by the British government, so you can't escape it. It's best to be obedient. The tuberculosis test must be submitted at the same time when applying for a visa, so everyone needs to do the test in advance instead of applying for the visa first or submitting supplementary materials. It should be noted that tuberculosis examination cannot be done at any hospital. It must be examined at an institution designated by the British Home Office to be certified. Before going for the examination, you need to make an appointment by phone or email in advance.

The test fee for tuberculosis is 550 yuan (non-refundable, not including treatment fees). When doing a chest X-ray, you need to take off your shirt. If you need a female medical staff to check you, you need to contact us in advance. Please inform the examination center and make an appointment. On the day of the examination, you need to bring your ID and examination fee. If you have ever suffered from tuberculosis or other lung diseases, you need to bring your past cases. If everything is normal, the certificate will be valid for 6 months. If you are diagnosed with tuberculosis, the treatment time is about 6 months, during which you will not be able to apply for a UK visa. Having said all that, everyone should obediently get a physical examination certificate before going abroad. Don’t delay your trip because of this.

5. List of designated hospitals

If there is no designated hospital in the area where the applicant lives, the applicant must go to a designated clinic in Beijing, Guangzhou or Shanghai for a physical examination. Applicants have the right to choose to have a physical examination in Beijing, Guangzhou or Shanghai or at the designated hospital listed below corresponding to the area where the applicant lives. Residents of Heilongjiang Province can choose designated medical clinics in Harbin; residents of Qinghai, Sichuan, Xinjiang and Tibet can choose designated medical clinics in Chengdu.

With the physical examination form issued by the Hong Kong Consulate, you can have a physical examination in Hong Kong or return to the mainland for a physical examination according to the above regulations. With a physical examination form issued by other Canadian embassies and consulates, you can have a physical examination at another designated hospital.
