The construction history of Getong Town

Getong Town is located in the central part of Fangshan County. It is the seat of the county committee and the county government. It is between 39°48′--37°55′ north latitude and 111°10′--111°25′ east longitude. It is adjacent to Jiaocheng County, Linxian County to the west, Yukou Town of the county to the south, and Madihui Township of the county to the north. The town covers an area of ??212.24 square kilometers, spanning 28 kilometers from east to west, and 16 kilometers from north to south, with a forest coverage rate of 36.6%, the cultivated land area is 31,856 acres, including 3,580 acres of watered land and 28,276 acres of dry land. The terrain rises from west to east, forming a trend of high east and low west. Getong Town originally belonged to Lishi County. Getong People's Commune was established in 1958. It was placed under Fangshan County on May 1, 1971. In 1984, it was renamed "community" as a town and became today's Getong Town.
