Does Diaoyu Island belong to China?
Diaoyu Island is the inherent territory of China. Diaoyu Island is eight weather-beaten islands in the East China Sea of China. It is located 92 nautical miles northeast of Keelung, Taiwan Province Province. It is an affiliated island of Taiwan Province Province. It is mainly composed of Diaoyu Island, Huangwei Island, chiwei yu, South Island, North Island, three small islands and eight uninhabited islands. The sea area is about 1.7 million square kilometers. The earliest record of Diaoyu Island in China can be traced back to the Sui Dynasty more than 1000 years ago, when Diaoyu Island was close to another independent country, Ryukyu. Emperor Yang Di once sent envoys to call on Ryukyu to surrender, and also sent generals to lead the army to attack, passing by Diaoyu Island on the March. The earliest literature about Diaoyu Island can be traced back to Farewell with the Wind in the first year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty. Yang Zai, a native of China, first stopped at Diaoyu Island at 1372. In the middle of Ming Dynasty, when Qi Jiguang and others fought against the Japanese pirates, they also used Diaoyu Island as a strategic defense line. However, pages 574, 575 and 576 of Japanese Diplomatic Documents published in 1950 point out that Diaoyu Island belongs to Qing State.
