2. Shantou, known as Chaozhou in ancient times, is called "Chao" for short. Formerly known as Shantou City, the birthplace of Chaoshan, Guangdong Province. It is one of the three major ethnic groups in Guangdong Province and an important part of Lingnan culture. Chaoshan area is the collective name of Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang, that is, Bayi area in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, which is located in the eastern coast of Guangdong Province, where the Tropic of Cancer meets the coastline of Chinese mainland.
