Historical evolution of Xichang City:

Xichang was called Qiongdu in ancient times. In the sixth year of Yuanding in the Western Han Dynasty, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty took Qiongdu as Yuegang County, which governed fifteen counties, belonging to Yizhou, and the county ruled Qiongdu.
