Shenzhen, referred to as Pengcheng for short, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province. Shenzhen is one of the four central cities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, a national logistics hub, an international comprehensive transportation hub, an international science and technology industry innovation center and one of the three national financial centers in China. It is making every effort to build a pioneering demonstration zone in Socialism with Chinese characteristics, a comprehensive national science center and a global ocean centre city.
The earliest predecessor of Shenzhen was Baoan County, guangzhou fu. The name of Shenzhen was first recorded in the eighth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (14 10), and Shenzhen was founded in 1979.
