Litchi is native to China and is a native fruit in China. It is widely cultivated in southern China and used as food and medicine. Raisins originated in California, USA, and were mainly planted in Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Yunnan, Gansu and Ningxia after being introduced to China.

Litchi was introduced from China to Myanmar at the end of 17, and was introduced to India after 100. About 1870, it was introduced to Madagascar and Mauritius, 1873 was introduced to Hawaii by China merchants, and 1870+0880 was introduced to Florida from India.

1930- 1940s was introduced to Israel, and 1954 was brought to Australia by immigrants from China. Litchi is widely planted in Central and South America, parts of Africa and the whole of Asia. The main producers of litchi in the world today are China, India, South Africa, Australia, Mauritius, Madagascar and Thailand.

The main producing areas of litchi

1, Fujian: Putian, Zhangpu, Longhai, Fuzhou, Minhou, Fuqing and other counties and cities produce more litchi; Followed by Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, Xianyou, Nanjing, Nan 'an, Yongchun and other more than 20 counties and cities, there is also a certain output. The varieties are Justin, Zhuangyuanhong, Zhu Lan, Yuanxiang and Chenzi.

2. Guangxi: Guiping and Lingshan counties produce more litchi, followed by more than 20 counties and cities such as Hengxian, Yulin, Cangwu, Longan, Pingnan, Nanning, Longzhou and Shangsi. The varieties are clove, black leaf, water chestnut and so on.

3. Sichuan: Litchi is concentrated in several counties in southern Sichuan, and Hejiang is the most. The varieties are Dahongbao, Yongmuye and Green Peel. Hejiang, Sichuan, has a cultivation history of more than 2000 years. As one of the main producing areas of late-maturing litchi in China, the yield of Hejiang litchi accounts for more than 95% of the national listed litchi from mid-July to late August.
