The origin of Golmud's name?

Golmud, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Qinghai Province, is named after the Golmud River. The standard pronunciation is "Golmud", which means "a place with dense rivers". During the Republic of China, 1955 was translated as "Golmud" and 1960 was simplified as "Golmud".
